Durable and great value

I needed a rubber mallet to tap out the shapes in my pumpkin carving kit. I'm in kindergarten and it worked wonderfully. It was strong, durable and at a very good price. It was not uncomfortable or difficult for children (toddlers) to use.

  • Delivery was very quick

This is normal for what it is.

I bought this for a 2014 camping trip in Shenandoah National Park and it's a good price for a tent peg mallet. One downside though is that the hook at the end for retrieving the pegs is quite flimsy upon impact with the tent and preventing the pegs from slipping off the hook was a problem when I tried to retrieve them afterwards as the hook was quite weak is flat (it doesn't drag very far).

  • Nice packaging
Cons
  • Poorly thought out

Works great as a stake hammer

Works great as a stake hammer, but as mentioned the stake puller is completely useless. There is also a risk of punching holes in things. I used to pack a hammer in my tent bag, but not this one. After my first attempt with a post puller led to an upright position, I simply unscrewed it and threw it away. I actually got this because I couldn't find my Hammer Couglans 9742 (100% plastic). It's almost perfect. It's lighter and has a very good balance. The stake remover is designed in the form of…

The peg puller is terrible

Used this thing for the first time on a camping trip last weekend. After camp was set up, it rained heavily towards us for a while, then drizzled for the rest of the day. The next day I went to shoot the stake and it stuck pretty well despite the damp ground. The puller bent almost immediately, just not by much. That aside the hammer seems to hit the stakes pretty well, but without something to pull the stakes out I'll probably leave that at home and go back to a standard hammer. A friend of…

Useful but doesn't seem durable

Very handy for camping but I doubt the durability of the hook. It was already bent when I received the hammer. I was able to bend it straight easily, but I wouldn't be surprised if it bends again or comes out of the hammer all the way. However, I have used it while camping and it has worked well. Worst case scenario, even if the hook falls out completely, I still have a usable rubber mallet. I'm considering getting another post puller though, like this gray outdoor camping, bivouac, shed, shed,

You will be surprised how much you like it.

I have been using these for at least ten years and they are very comfortable. Hammering tent stakes into the ground is one thing, and it can be done a number of ways (hammer, piece of wood, shoe), but I find these hammers work better. And if you've ever camped outside, you've probably found that pulling up tent pegs can sometimes be a daunting task. Thanks to the loop, this hammer works fast and you'll be glad you have it. I made the mistake of leaving one of them hanging outside for the…
