It was exactly what I wanted for my daughters the first time. The instructions had a pattern that I tried to get her to follow so she could learn to follow the pattern and count stitches, but when following the pattern it didn't match the printed image. Then I found that the plastic had even fewer holes than shown in the sample. I then asked her to just go with the printed image, so everything was fine and she liked it. What was the point of having a pattern in the instructions? Otherwise…

This is a really great starter kit. Cute and simple design, all included, good enough size to feel like a complete project without taking so much time that it's no longer fun. The only problem is that the colors do not match the photo at all. The colors of the rainbow are pink, yellow, blue and bright green. However, "yellow" is dark orange. And "blue” chases green. My daughter enjoyed the "learn to sew" until she made 8 or 9 stitches and found her thumb holding the plastic was covered in blue paint . She tried a few more stitches, but the paint kept peeling off. She became uncomfortable and lost interest. I tried doing a few stitches and encountered the same problem. In those few minutes of work, so much of the drawing came off that she couldn't finish it where it touched. I figured I would only end up about an inch or so all the way down on the left side
