Should reflect the sun or something, but it works. It's cooler with that and at a temperature of 100+, on water for 10+ hours it doesn't stain at all - it certainly hasn't burned out. I bought a few for myself but they only have a few colors for women. The yellow is not matt like in the picture, but a real sunny yellow.
