I used this to measure the gap on the platform. NO, it has no magnets, magnets are not needed and in my opinion can cause instability of the measurement platform. This provided a stable and consistent measurement point, allowing me to determine the correct cylinder head gasket for the SBC 350. Thanks very much!

This is a good cheap deck bridge. I will note: there are NO two side bolts to clamp the caliper to the side unless you have a dial indicator. I thought that this is not so, in some photos it is visible, in some not; but just to clarify, it only had 3 vertical holes for a dial indicator. It's cheaper than the Proform model anyway, and most blocks these days are aluminum anyway, so magnets weren't needed. I'm happy with the purchase and it got the job done at a great price.
