Great value for money

I bought a refractometer to check vegetables in the garden. The refractometer comes with a nice zippered case, an instruction manual, a small screwdriver to zero the instrument and a small plastic siphon. I took some distilled water and set the RF15 to zero Brix with a screwdriver (it was off by 1/10 Brix which wouldn't make much of a difference for my use and could be caused by temperature differences). Essential for any home brewer

I've been a home brewer for about 18 months and mostly brew partial mash extracts/special grains. I try to gauge and control the gravity of the wort when making a mini mash or during cooking. With a refractometer this is no longer a problem. I've been using berries, local honey and similar ingredients for a long time and I've always had to guess what effect they would have on my beer. Amazing tool useful in machine shops
