Reasonable value for money

This is the only thermometer I've ever used, but I found it good enough. There was a slight bend/dent on a part on the outside of the wheel, but this did not cause any problems. A couple of divisions were also erased/not printed, possibly due to a dent, but didn't cause me any problems.

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Out of style

It CANNOT be centered on the crank

Cannot be installed on Ford FE. There is no way to center it on the crankshaft. There are 3 holes that can be attached to the harmonic balancer, but none of them fit any of the harmonic balancers I have. Now I need to make a bushing to fit. It's basically a $150 Frisbee.

Not for all small block Chevrolet models, at least not for LS models

Great quality! I would give it 5 stars but when I asked if it would work with 5.3L LS engines there was no answer. Company response. Turns out there won't be another kit specifically for the ls engine as this one lists all small block Chevys but doesn't cover the 4.8, 5.8, 6.0 ls models.

Pros
  • Impressive
Cons
  • Not as thick as other models

It's a metal disc with grade markings on it.

This is a metal disc with grade markings on it - just what I wanted. It's worth noting that the intake/exhaust marks are set for a left hand turning engine if I'm not mistaken. I haven't used it to calibrate the camshaft just to find true TDC. Revain shipped it in a really ridiculous amount of packaging, a 12" x 8" x 3" box (roughly) and tons of packaging material.

Pros
  • Ideal for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Weight

Poor quality - the caliber slide didn't fit, I had to sharpen it on a lathe!

Oh my god the caliper WILL NOT fit in the large rocker arm adjustment hole. This is the BASIC device for installing a pressure gauge over the rocker arm. The retarded crank head is so loose that it moves 3-4 degrees every time! and that's a total of 350sbc! The instructions are incredibly poor, NOT A SINGLE PICTURE. Annoying allen screws of all sizes on half the stuff but no allen key in the box - I turned a bigger lever on the lathe to get it moving - really don't know why I'm only putting…

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers

Good tool, bad instructions.

As described, this kit is for testing valve timing/cam lift when the head is REMOVED from the engine. It works well once you get the hang of it and comes with everything you need to fit an SB Mopar engine. I used it on an 03 Dodge 5.9L Magnum engine. As someone who has never used one of these, my only concern is that the instructions don't explain how to use this particular tool. In my case, the instructions that came with it explained how to use the other kit (valve spring lift test with…
