This stays cool months after purchase. My cat, at first, was hesitant about this new addition to her playroom, but spent all summer napping on the lovingly titled "bluie." I kept finding her running and jumping into the mat and at odd points rolling herself up in the mat. It's this but does it's job and stays cool. I will eventually be purchasing another one as this has become like a security blanket for my cat.

So, I care for stray cats in the neighborhood and we have a few. An attempt to steal it has occurred twice and found it stuck on my fence (cats love it so much they want it for themselves) the 3 kittens that live in my back yard sleep on it nightly and lounge on in through the day. I have not noticed a quicker cooling with this pad vs the wood floors. It is a nice lightweight pad that could sub for service dogs in restaurants easy to fold and carry. as to cooling, my dog is still heated after 20 minutes.Due to the convivence of folding tightly, I am using for what I suggested here; a carry around padas to the potential of the gel pads, I'm concerned about toxicity.

The material reminds me of quilt material. It is cool to the touch. However, it did nothing for our dogs and one dog even tore it up the first night. I was disappointed.

I have an older dog with cushings who is always panting and hot. We bought this for her to sleep on at night and I must say that it has made a difference. It really does feel cool to the touch, but will get warm like any material directly under the dog. I just move her around on it every so often.

I was really skeptical at first when purchasing this cooling mat. My dog has been diagnosed with a collapsed trachea and nights are very hard on him. He needs to stay cool or else he coughs. He has had such great nights now thanks to this cooling mat! Its thin and easy for him to bunch up and lay on it. If I put my hand on a blanket vs the cooling mat it's a noticeably cooler. Bought this when it temps started rising. My dogs use them in their beds and it seems to help cool the off! Some dogs may refuse to use the mat after the first few tries.

I honestly didn't believe that it would be consistently cool to the touch I thought it would just allow some air to pass through. It doesn't seem to have gel or anything in it just the way it's constructed is cold to the touch not frozen cold but cool noticeably cool in Florida weather.

I am not sure about this product yet. It feels cool to the touch, but I think it warms up substantially with my dog's body temperature, so I'm unclear as to whether or not it is actually "cooling" her, or if she's heating the pad up. The temperature has dropped significantly outside, so it's too soon to see if she actually seeks it out for cooling. I'm hopeful, but not very helpful at this point!

This blanket is made of a cool fabric. It's not super special but my cat loves it! It's good for hot weather combined with a fan. :) Would recommend considering the price.
