I opened the box and took out a pillow. It smelled strong so I took out my counter. The product gives off toxic fumes. As you can see on my electronic meter, the TVOC is 3.245, well above safe or recommended limits.

Update: This pillow is rock hard. So we bought this pillow based on the insane amount of reviews. At first it was great, but over time it got worse and worse. It kept getting deeper, lumpy and hard. I read a review where they said to put it in the dryer on low heat for 5-10 minutes and yes it did increase in height but if you put your head on it it just shrinks back. And it's super lumpy and uneven. For a $70 pillow (we bought two king sizes) it's not worth it.

There have been many complaints about the toxic odor of this pillow. We experienced that too and tried our best to tell about it and try for several years. The smell never went away completely. But the worrying issue is that today when we opened the pillow we found mold inside the foam rubber. We don't know how long he was inside. Update: I threw it away after about 8 months. The microfiber has degraded/dried out to the point where it shrinks and doesn't stretch as easily as it did when new. I've always used it with a waterproof pillow protector which probably keeps it out of the environment.
