Less than six months with occasional use

I use it to make coffee at home 2-3 times a week. I've had it for less than six months and it's giving VERY erroneous readings. Right now the thermometer shows 120 degrees just standing on the counter, while this morning it's 68 degrees indoors. I first realized that there could be problems if it read 220 (the maximum reading) when the water wasn't even boiling. I would rush to drain the water but then the coffee wasn't very hot. There is no need to replace it any time soon for the amount of…

by price. not bad

Deadly accurate. When the entire shaft is in the milk. Otherwise you will get inconsistent temperature readings. I've used this several times just to compare how it feels on my hand. After that I used it as an air temperature sensor in the automotive industry. Which actually works quite well. And because different media don't come into contact with different parts of the shaft (it's just air coming out of the vents), the readings are accurate. The response time to the pressure gauge is quite…

Pros

I bought a Cooper-Atkins Bi-Metals espresso milk thermometer for (you guessed it) frothing milk. My only concern is that the thermometer stem is too long for my steaming pot. The jug is about the size of a milk jug, so I blame the thermometer's design for having to tilt it slightly to use it. It doesn't harm the process at all. With this I can still heat milk to the right temperature. I also noticed a slight time lag in temperature registration. What you actually need to do is steam almond or…
