Ugly, but it works.

Looks like someone is mass producing them back their house. However, this is a welder and should work. I'm happy with it, although $30 is a bit steep for what it is.

Great price, great quality!

Ideal for filling holes and welding hard-to-reach places. It's nice that you can swap the screw holes so that the copper plate sits better as a support. Works really well as the welding rod/wire doesn't stick to the copper. Love the great price for the quality!

Pros
  • Tools and household goods
Cons
  • I vaguely remember

Cheaply made, doesn't last a minute

Biggest $35 waste of my life. First, it's about $5 for materials. Aluminum rod, bolt, copper plate and bicycle grip. I used it once for everyone else to see. This is one of the thinnest pieces of copper. I immediately cut it off because it's too thin to withstand actual welding. 0/10 don't buy.

Pros
  • Perfect for MIG welding - MMA welding won't stick to bare copper plate or burn through thin metal
Cons
  • Not sure

It saves lives when welding old sheet metal

If you're welding new sheet metal to old sheet metal, this is a must have. When restoring our old car, we continued to burn holes in the old sheet metal. We bought this tool and one of us held the copper behind the weld. The copper prevents the weld from punching a hole in the metal. Works perfectly. We also used an old piece of copper pipe that had been crushed with a hammer. This has given us a wide reach. Both worked great for wire feed welding. Welding old sheet metal without copper backing

Pros
  • Lightweight domed handle Comfortable grip - easily adjustable offset screw hole for welding in hard-to-reach places
Cons
  • Has been damaged

Every welder should have one in their tool box!

In almost 30 years in the welding industry I have used many tools. One thing every experienced welder should have is a copper back. This tool is very versatile compared to most of the similar ones on the market. It has a thick, rubber-coated aluminum handle that helps dissipate heat. The two copper pads have multiple offset holes for easy access to the hardest-to-reach spots. A very good tool for use in light to medium conditions. In another review, the harm represented by outright misuse, this
