Description of CoraLife Ball Aquarium Filter 5 Gallon

Bio-Balls provide a large surface area for beneficial bacteria to grow due to the unique construction and geometric design of the one inch round balls. Typically used in sump filtration systems. Bio-Balls are a good choice for adding biological filtration to your aquatic system.

A quarter lost! for aquarium pumps and filters

The box arrived in two days. I have argued with my wife that there was no way a 5 gallon bucket of bioballoons was in the box. I lost a quarter!

Pros
  • Delivery was very fast
Cons
  • Not everything fits

NOT 5 gallons! on filter accessory

Terribly disappointed with this purchase which says it's 5 gallon biobeads when in fact it's closer to 2 gallons; Not recommended :(

Pros
  • New
Cons

Great for DIY wet/dry construction

These are amazing bio balls. I've used them before and got 5 more gallons for the wet/dry filter I'm building. The price is really good and I use 20 gallons to build my sump and 5 gallons fits fine. The sump will be for a 125 gallon tank and should work great. There are other cheaper biomaterials out there but I like to use real biobeads so I can be sure the product is working properly and they have worked so far.

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • No automation

My favorite media in aquarium pumps and filters

This is my favorite filter media for aquariums and ponds. They are low maintenance and do a great job of keeping my water clean and safe. I use them in overflow, canister and settling systems. My aquariums range from 27 to 220 gallons and my pond is 2000 gallons. They all work very well with this carrier. I had a couple of partially broken balls but that was to be expected. A few hundred is no problem. Highly recommended!

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • No instructions
