Most of the kit is fine the red seals are junk

I would recommend looking elsewhere as the red seals are in this junk. Put mine on and in a week they will look like the picture. The brass colored saddle was also the wrong thread.

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • Nothing

Buy a genuine Sierra brand. Much better.

I wish I could read the reviews. The bowl gaskets deformed and fell apart within a week as did all the photos. Causes a leak through the fuel inlet between the body and body, flooding the carburetor.

Pros
  • Absolute Legend
Cons
  • Not sure

Seals dry for spare parts

even a month did not have this kit! had to remove the carbs due to an unforeseen circumstance and in doing so I removed the tray inserts and they are crumpled and now unusable. I've also used non-ethanol fuel and this has happened. Otherwise everything seems fine so far, but as far as I can tell this is still up in the air.

Pros
  • cool product

Not for 1987 v4 84h Johnson

Bought this fall and installed this spring. We ran the boat 4 times, encountered problems each time, took it apart and found the kit started to wrinkle and fall apart as in the picture. I would not recommend this for v4 85h 1987 Johnson. We bought a proper kit from a nautical store and the parts are definitely different in length, weight and material.

Pros
  • Slim design
Cons
  • Hard to tell

Do not buy I'll rate this -2 it's rubbish

The kits come in a tiny box and the pads were folded, the rubber bowl pads were folded, luckily the paper pads weren't damaged. Were all parts listed in the kit description. Problem two: The main jet seat was too long and wouldn't screw all the way in to mount the nylon washer, so I had to use the old one. Installed the carburetors back on the engine and it ran great for 3 or 4 days, then noticed the carburetors were leaking, removed the carburetors and took them apart and the gaskets fell…

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • Protection

Too much guesswork with this kit.

The kit contains many parts that may or may not be needed for your specific application. No instructions, no gauge to measure the floats (not that anyone really needs instructions, just fit them together piece by piece.) And due to the packaging I received, the carburetor locking gaskets were damaged to the point where they weren't anymore could be used. (Putting in a small box caused the gaskets to fold on their own, loosening the paper gasket between the layers.) The valve seats are 1.5mm…

Pros
  • Pretty packaging
Cons
  • Can't remember

Bad rubber pads are best in rebuild kits

The pads in this kit are terrible. I put them on a 1976 Evinrude 85hp 3 weeks ago. So I just need shell spacers. After cleaning the carburetor and installing gaskets I deactivated the boat and the boat ran great. It's been 2.5 weeks since I started the boat, today I tried to pull it out but it won't start. I spray starting fluid in the smoke machine and it starts at high idle but won't start by itself and won't idle at normal. I check as usual: ignition compression of the fuel pump. No…

Pros
  • Confident
Cons
  • Out of style
