These crane animal models work best, but they have one disadvantage: they only live for one year. I threw away 4 fans or shorted out the heating element. I went so far as to replace defective parts. This is extremely effective and the water smells very sterile. Is that weird to say? I have to use it on low settings because on higher settings my room feels like I'm living in a rainforest turned sauna. Which is good because rainforests are disappearing and I like to pretend there's a new one in my room, but I don't want mold either. So get ready for a really intense moisturizer.

This is our second Crane humidifier. The first has been flawless for the last three years. I bought the owl about a week and a half ago. It stopped working after a week but I was able to contact Crane who will send a replacement after following their replacement protocol. These humidifiers work great and while we had an issue it was nice to know Crane backed their product.

We bought this after buying the elephant version. That works just as well. Not sure if I prefer it or not, but the level control toggled the unit on and off as well. This means you need to know exactly where to position the handle to get the spot you want. The elephant we had was older and had a separate switch, and the level control could stay in the same place.

We have an "elephant" humidifier that works well and we've never had a problem so we bought an owl for our second child. Unfortunately, his head isn't fixed as tightly and the vapor just erupts. During the night it soaked the carpet in our child's room, ruined the table it was sitting on, and on medium/low settings the water went out completely. We tried taping the head to make the seal tighter, but that still didn't help much. At the moment the humidifier with this defect is scrap.

No problems with this product in our house. This inexpensive humidifier works much better than the previous one which cost three times as much. The old one produced almost no fog and actually had condensation on it. Understand, there are no problems with condensate, no problems with leakage, no wet floors. Just nice soft air to breathe.
