. The ice cream comes consistently cold and the texture is great.

Ice cream stays cool all the time and the texture is great. However, it's a nightmare to clean after a few batches. You have to break out some screwdrivers and open the machine to clean it completely as some ice cream will get inside and create a bad smell of spoiled milk. I don't really know how to stop the ice from running in, but you'll definitely notice when it happens. A complete cleaning of my car takes half an hour to an hour. I believe that this operation is not necessary as with…

Disappointed with the manufacturer's service and this product

Purchased from Revain on October 31st 2016. I actually tried using it in September 2017 and it didn't work. The compressor never turned on. It was too late to send it back to Revain so I contacted the manufacturer. The manufacturer sent me a replacement which also didn't work. The compressor turned on, but the mixture did not freeze. After 60 minutes of whipping, I had the same liquid ingredients I added. I contacted the manufacturer for a refund and they told me they could only send a…

A little taste of Italy

When I left Italy I knew I would miss ice cream more than anything in the world. After much research I have decided that this is exactly the path I want to take. I like the idea of not freezing the bowl ahead of time. The recipes that came with this dish were delicious and of course there are plenty of recipes on Pinterest. You mix and heat the ice cream ingredients first, then refrigerate for 2-6 hours or overnight. Pay VERY attention to the amount of ice cream base you prepare. The unit is a…

mechanical error

There are actually SEVERAL problems with this unit. I retune it after 2 days because the gear in the freezer bowl doesn't mesh properly with the gear in the car - so the bowl doesn't spin = no ice. Well, to be fair, I got the gears turning by taking a hammer and banging the bowl against the body of the machine! There's no certainty this will work for any period of time so I'm returning with vague hopes (they're just replacing it - no refunds). Purchased through Revain: If you're not keeping up…

Great tool when it works

Great tool when it works. I bought it in April 2015 and use it to make ice cream 2-3 times a month. The recipe book is excellent, the instructions are clear and the machine works perfectly. . . until May 2016 - immediately after the end of the return period. We made a mix for ice cream as usual, put it in a coffee maker, turned it on, set the time, START said. . . and nothing. It stood and cooled, but the paddles didn't turn to stir the ice. I decided to tinker with it. There is a black plastic

The perfect choice for freshly made hard ice cream!

Too bad for five stars. I would give 10 stars. Why? I love freshly made "hard" ice cream. This device can intelligently make "hard” ice cream on the fly in about 60 minutes. I've discovered the secret to making "really hard ice cream" is that at some point during the shake cycle, the mixture becomes too thick to stir and sticks together into blades. This is when I keep pushing the mix manually and throwing the blade to keep the mix whipping. As a result, the mixture gets colder and harder with…

A professional chef's opinion and advice

I bought this ice cream maker for home use. So far I have only used the ice cream maker to prepare ice cream and ice cream. As many reviews point out, recipes can be a bit confusing in how they are spelled, and the amount of base you end up getting is way too much for 1 full batch of ice cream, and it doesn't spill out of the container a bit when you get in the machine are ready. Below are the most common complaints I've seen in the review section and possible solutions. All decisions depend…

SO WORTH THE PRICE!

I have had this device for three months now and have used it about 25 times. This car has exceeded my expectations every time. I've used a basic Donvier ice cream maker for decades. The Donvier was the first widespread machine to use a bucket that had to be kept in the freezer. This has served me well, I've made hundreds of ice creams and sorbets over the years. But about six months ago we switched to a low carb diet. After a few months I started craving ice cream. Both cream and eggs work very
