If there's one thing that isn't rocket science, it's a ball cover. The only downside is that it's a bit difficult to get off a 2 inch ball. Maybe it would be better if they made different sizes for different sized balls instead of one universal size.

That's why I bought the Curt clutch covers. To protect the lubricated 3-point swivel joints on my tractor. and my jeans when I'm servicing the tractor or walking around. They are literally easy to install. and tight enough that they won't pop out. They look like they came on a tractor and look and work better than a rubber band sandwich bag!

This quality cap not only keeps the grease on the ball clean and ready for the next hit, it also protects the surface of the ball from dents and scratches (if the ball accidentally hits the pavement, for example) and it is a good grip for easy carrying of the hitch. So I bought several of these with the right bead diameter size for each of my uses.

Remember why you are using this article. To cover the ball's greased clutch so you don't grease yourself if you step in and hurt your shins! Put it on a properly lubricated ball hitch and you shouldn't have any problems. Try installing it on a dry ball, you will most likely break it, and if you install it on a dry one you will almost certainly stretch/tear it while removing it. Take a small can of white or lithium grease and lubricate the ball hitch.

I really like this as the floor tends to get dirty and when working in the back of a truck it can be very easy getting my pants and clothes dirty and so on, plus my kids get on and off the back of our suburb and it takes some of the pain away when they hit them. I live in Florida and no matter what product is made from the sun, or in my case the sun combined with salty air doesn't always break down.
