It's not indestructible.

It fits perfectly and works great BUT when the hitch is on the ground and my 6 year old grandson (who drives my golf cart) runs over it it breaks like the one that came with the kit became . Follower. I bought another one and gave driving instructions.

Pros
  • Absolute Legend
Cons
  • Communication with seller

Great fit and savings!

It was money! I recently bought an old trailer where the hitch was just rusty. Raising the spring above the tongue, positioned correctly, is a little tricky, but it just takes a little muscle and determination. This clutch was a big savings for me!

  • Inspires confidence

Replaces Poorly Made Port Cargo Folding Trailer Part

The Port Cargo Folding Trailer comes with a hitch that is so poorly made it is unsafe. I replaced it with this one and it works great. The latch opens and closes easily, creating a strong and secure connection that is also easy to remove when the latch is open.

Good spare part

Installation was not long in coming. The instructions were clear enough. The picture helped the most when installing the springs. I had a friend screw in the screw while I compress the springs. That was faster. It is better to use a screwdriver to tighten the nut. I used an adjustable wrench and had to do small turns due to interference and things getting stuck.

Pros
  • Top marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Zero

Works like the original!

That saved me by driving the original. It was almost impossible for me to compress the spring enough to fit the nut as shown in Kurt's video on their website. So I used two bar clamps to compress it and protect my fingers! Aside from installation frustration (which I expected and deserved from driving the original), it works flawlessly. Just make sure it's snug on the ball and not too loose!

literally took 2 minutes

This is life saving. I had an OLD hitch. 50 years. Went to the lock and immediately broke the bolt, so rusty and weak. I didn't want to cut the coupler off and weld a new one because of the time. I came across this bar replacement and gave it a try. What an answer to my prayers. Directions were accurate, YouTube is for you if you get lost. it was literally 2 minutes away. The price was perfect and now I'm back in business.

  • Few competitors
Cons
  • Good but not great

Bought to replace the one that was rusting off my Lowe's 5x8 trailer. Arrived on time 3 stars Xbox addicted 17 year old son installs it so easy to install 4 stars Works for once used 3 stars Then 3 days later me. Decided to put it to the test by driving my wife's city and county down my trailer's tongue, which snapped it like a branch. -5 Stars. So that's my 5 star review and another new one should be here on Tuesday.

The price was good and it does what I need.

It doesn't quite fit in my trailer but it's a custom order. The latch is built into the tongue, so that part gets in the way a bit. But it's normal. The trailer is not suitable for the road. I only use it in the backyard with an ATV. It works and the tongue no longer glides over the ball. I'm satisfied. The price was good and it does what I need. I doubt I'll ever find the perfect part for that particular trailer. I could sand the piece down if it really bothers me.

The part that snaps onto the ball is too big

This was a replacement for a clutch lock that was damaged and bent but the body was fine. There is nothing wrong with this repair kit. The problem I had was that the old clutch was from a company that had gone out of business so no OEM was available. After several attempts to install this I found that the part holding the ball in place was too big to fit in the old case. Luckily I didn't throw away the damaged latch and was able to replace the original part, and also had to grind down the…
