Easy installation on towing vehicles and winches

Basically plug and play, except electricity. I have a hatchback so I just added a fuse and plugged it into the fuse box next to the driver's side taillight. All in all it took about an hour.

Pros
  • Have fun
Cons
  • Without automatic

Good plug and play wiring

I drove a 2015 Ford Focus for almost 3 years with no problems. Good plug and play but hooking it up to the rear fuse box is a bit fiddly as I couldn't find the right terminals to use the open slot in the fuse box.

100% as advertised. Ideal for existing wiring.

Product as advertised, installation requires time and patience. Took me about 2 hours from start to finish. However, it was a necessary upgrade and I would choose this product again. 5 stars for good design, easy car seat belt installation and full integration. Exactly what I wanted/needed.

Why doesn't it work when car headlights are on?

I liked the wiring harness although running a wire from the back of the car to the battery sucked. I have to say I didn't have a lift so it was difficult to get in and work under the car. I have a 2016 Ford Focus Hatch. All the headlights worked except the trailer taillights. My light was on automatic. When I flipped the headlight switch to manual mode, the trailer's taillights came on. Find out? In general, I am happy with the suspension

Okay, a few steps are missing from the instructions

Pretty easy installation up to the power cable routing. It came with a simple blueprint and vague instructions on how to get to the battery from the back of the car. I found a video online showing a grommet under the spare tire to route the wire under the car. From there, follow the course of the brake lines to the battery. A small tube of joint compound for the lugs to be cut off would be a welcome addition. Take one before you start.

Fire hazard worked great initially

I bought the harness in March 2016 and everything was great. Until the last weekend of February 2017. . I decided to ride with him and after 20 minutes of driving all the lights went out. Nothing worked. I found a blown fuse so I replaced the fuse and the black wire that went into the box melted and the box was swollen and stank of burnt transistors. I'll try to contact Kurt and see what can be done to fix the problem.

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Some issues

Works great - tow and winch item

Got this item for my 2017 Ford Focus ST. I bought a trailer for a boat and needed to hook up a light so I went with this kit. Installation was pretty easy, the only part that was a little annoying was running the power wire from the trunk to the front of the car to the battery, but I suppose if you're into electricity you could find a way to hook it up . to the fuse box in the trunk and get it running. Other than that I've been using it for about 2 months, the plug that came with my trailer has

Use the fuse tap in the fuse box in the trunk instead.

This wire harness/tee works exactly as it should and is fairly easy to install if you ignore Kurt's instructions on how to route the wire to the battery. The Focus already has a fuse box in the cargo area, so there's no need to run a wire to the battery, especially under the car where it's exposed to the elements. Save yourself a lot of time and buy a fuse. that you can get power from an empty fuse socket in the trunk fuse box. (Don't forget to plug the wire into the fuse holder Kurt gives…
