Too small to attach to Curt hitch

The tethers on the ends of the carabiner are not large enough to hook onto the Curt hitch plate. Whilst Curt had a fairly good product range and quality this is changing fast as 2 of the 3 products I have bought from them cannot be serviced.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Mostly good but...

Good product in towing products and winches

I have similar cables on my other boat. They retain the spiral that allows them to be quite long unlike the chains they replaced, but they don't drag across the pavement. The old chains were badly rusted, these not. Use a stainless steel bolt, nut and washer for added security.

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Poorly thought out

Great boat trailer upgrade

I replaced them with chains on my 19ft Bayliner trailer. They look great, are much easier to control and no longer drag on the floor. Installation will depend on how your chains are connected as they have a different eyelet size than your chain links. So be sure to check this out. money well spent.

FYI - Hook only fits 1/2 inch

I prefer vinyl coated wires - less noise and they don't interfere when the trailer is unhitched. Only fits bar diameters over 1/2" or less. The factory hitch on my tractor uses a 5/8" bar for the safety chain attachment points, so I need to add some quick links (which rattle and probably just normally stay attached to the truck ). Don't use chains under any circumstances - it will get the job done, just remember that.

Pros
  • Lots of good vibes
Cons
  • No power

Defective and unusable

Kurt's reminder: It matters where you drill holes in the S-hook for the pen holder. The item I received did not match the images shown here at all. The holes were much closer to the knee of the hook, making it impossible to get the hook over the holes in the hitch. The goalie didn't let the hook go all the way because it was in the way. Cannot return the item as I tried to change the spring as a quick fix. I had to throw the useless product in the trash. TIP: Just buy a safety chain instead.

Pros
  • Elegant design
Cons
  • Long delivery time

CURT 80136 tethers PERFECT!

Tired of looking a bit silly when you pull a metal chain while pulling a pendant? Tired of clinking? This is an ingenious solution. I wonder why it took so long to develop. The braided steel cable is coated in a hard rubber material for durability and the clips/cleats work great on most standard trailers. The roll is fairly stiff so it doesn't "sag" to the ground, its natural tendency is to stay off the ground. Incredibly well designed tethers, highly recommend if you want to use 'next…

Stronger than I need, but I can handle it!

I used quick disconnects on each of the closed ends to attach the cables to the trailer. If you're going to use bolts and washers, you need to plan accordingly. These cables are rated more than double the chains I originally planned to use on my utility trailer. I don't mind doubling my redundancy when it comes to security. I also really like that they don't hang as far as the chains. They are less likely to drag across the floor as they are held in place by their own coils. The rollers also…
