2013 escape. Route the power cable from the rear fuse box

Unplug the power cable from the rear fuse box as shown. For example. No need to crawl under Auto 2, install this. They will place the trailer wiring harness under the rear door in a way I have no problem with, everything is tucked away in the car. I do not like it. Do not disconnect the green wire that goes to the right position lights, it could be a bit longer.

Pros
  • Handsfree
Cons
  • Legacy model

Excellent kit. Works perfectly.

This kit was easy to install. The hardest part was stretching the power cable to the battery. This is not a quick install. It took me about an hour and a half to complete. After the installation is complete, everything works beautifully. The braid has enough slack to connect it to the pendant. I found a video online that made the installation much easier. I strongly recommend watching the video before starting the installation.

Pros
  • Great product

great fit and high quality at a fair price

Skip the printed installation instructions (they are universal) and look at YouTube for your specific model. The kit is perfect for my 2016 Ford Escape SE. The hardest part is stretching the long black wire to the battery. I routed it in from the driver's side under the trim panel. There is a hole in the firewall centimeters from the steering shaft, covered with a rubber bushing. It is easy to route the cable through the engine compartment. Overall good fit and very good quality at a reasonable

It would be 5 if it wasn't for the short right turn signal wire.

The first step in the installation. WATCH Kurt's YOUTUBE video. He answered all the questions you might need to install. Second, use the rear fuse box for 12V battery power. Also, it was easy to install. The black rubber they gave me was semi-rigid but it was enough for me to finish the job. Passed the cork through the bottom rubber seal on the driver's side under the car. Great for that. One suggestion, as many have said, is that they need to add another 6" of wire for the black wire on the…

Very easy to install

Very easy to install. Watch the video, it's much better than the small picture in the instructions. Some have mentioned that the green wire is too short. The manufacturer must have taken note of this, because that is now more than enough. I had zero problems. I used a spade connector connected to one of the sockets in the rear fuse box as shown in one of the test images. The factory wiring harness will easily handle the light load generated by the trailer lights. I installed and tested it in…

Power cord not long enough

Whilst this harness is of good quality I found the butt connectors and grommets provided to be of the cheapest quality. The included power cord was about 3 feet shorter, Disclaimer I'm perhaps more picky than most when I run cables and prefer to follow the existing cable routing. I had to buy extra wire to complete the installation and I used better quality butt joints and spade lugs. The installation guide advises that double-sided tape is used to mount the transducer, double-sided tape is not

Failed again! for wiring

Another mistake. This is the second curt strap that I will be replacing on my Ford Escape. First, a freewheeling diode burned out and the right turn signals stopped working. This second one stopped working at all - it doesn't burn at all. I was hoping that this new model would be more reliable than the first as it looked like it had been redesigned. Had not. I even placed the control panel in the cockpit completely in front of the elements. I give them credit for the right timing and for only…
