Not true stipple best in Painting, Drawing & Art Supplies

I spent a few hours using this device. While I appreciate the try and good idea, the results from this pen don't produce a true dotted line. This gives an interesting look, but it's a combination of dots and dashes. The finished drawing looked more like a scratched one. Okay, back to the drawing board with my standard pens.

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • Useless features

Not a fan. Fits handles

Handle works as advertised. I'm only giving it two stars because most fountain pens have a tiny nib and it dries up as soon as you make a point. It's a gel tip so the dots are ugly and messy but take forever to dry. I made some dots 24 hours ago and left to erase the pencil lines and the dots are completely smudged all over the paper. Not a fan! I'm sticking with my KOH-I-NOOR Rapidograph pens.

General Fair Tool - Buttons

This was introduced to me by another artist a few months ago and I bought it. I have used it for several labor intensive jobs. As a professional artist, I've found that a pen has limited uses, but it has uses for certain types of marking (not just hatching), just as a mechanic needs certain specialized tools for certain jobs. However, I see an appeal for enthusiasts/hobbyists.

Dotspen adds a new technique to watercolor

My Dotspen allows me to create works that I would never have made without it. The white dots allow me to add very realistic waves hitting the rocks. Most white pens will not work with watercolors because the ink will bleed or absorb the watercolor and the white will no longer be white. Not so with Dotspen. It leaves a white dot. When watercoloring, use the dotted pencil last for a really dramatic effect. I'll be demonstrating Dotspen in the next drawing class!

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Durable

It broke on the first attempt to change the ink.

When it worked, it was phenomenal. I love grit but I have arthritis in my hands so this was great. The ink lasts a long time if you only do small drawings. I wanted to change the cartridge for the first time and it broke. The magnet and spring came out of the barrel with the old cartridge. When I tried to put it back in with a new cartridge as shown in the picture in the instructions it didn't work. So I got it out again. On the second pull, the spring got stuck in the shaft and deformed. Now I

Pros
  • Caution: Do not open the top cover of the Dotspen, otherwise it will be destroyed.
Cons
  • Out of fashion

Works great if you read the instructions first

This is the best tool. I've been playing with him since he arrived. At first I thought something was wrong because I couldn't get it to run at two speeds and once it wouldn't turn off. Always helps reading instructions which I hate. I finally read them this morning and found the pen works great. I've learned that you don't press it against the paper when you draw and to change the speed from default to fast press the power button twice quickly and to turn it off double click again for default…

Pros
  • World's First Electric Drawing Pen, Cuttlola Dotspen
Cons
  • Great Price

But nice pen. for drawing

As much as I would like to give this cool and useful device 5 stars, the quality just isn't there. When I first took it out of the box I charged it for a while and after a while I checked it and it didn't move at all. There wasn't much pressure on the tip of the pen. I turned off the pen and decided to take it apart only to find that the ink cartridge holder had fallen apart. Magnet, spring and plastic part have been separated. They weren't broken so I put them back in the correct position I…

Pros
  • Red Dot Award winning pen - for artists, illustrators, manga artists, tattoo artists etc.
Cons
  • Unbelievable price
