Excellent when set up correctly

Bought to keep an eye on our new tank so if anything happens we can warn you. I bought it on purpose because it can warn you anywhere. So the ratings are correct. It's an absolute pain to get it working properly. It was initially ok that the quick setup was easy. I checked, there is no notification. Jump forward about 6 hours between 3 different days and I finally got it to work every time. I'm afraid I'll have to go through it all again when the batteries run out, but then I'll get through it.

It didn't work - make sure to fully test your device!

The installation instructions are very simple. I downloaded the MyDLink app for my mobile phone and followed the instructions to connect to Wi-Fi etc. Everything seemed to be working fine. I received a message on my device that the water test worked. However, I waited 10 minutes and then exposed the sensor to about 1/2 inch of water. The instructions say to wait 30 seconds before the alarm or app notification goes off. The giver was in the water for a full 10 minutes and there was no warning or

Frustrating setup not in app or documentation otherwise great

After a rodent ate the sensor on our old D-Link water sensor, we pre-ordered it as a replacement. The battery life is a nice feature, although the power supply would also satisfy our needs. While the water sensor quickly detected the water and sent a notification to my phone almost immediately, setup was a nightmare as they don't tell you any important information either in the app during setup or in the documentation that came with the device. That means when you do the setup in the app to…

Boy you're not doing anything wrong with the install. Following the directions on the note didn't get me anywhere. The app-guided installation was not only at odds with the quick install guide, but it was better if you used the scan code on the back of the device. Otherwise, you will be prompted for a device password if none is provided. And nowhere is it mentioned that it only works with 2.4GHz WiFi. Cruel, tough, tough supervision. It is not mentioned in any literature, not even on the…

Has stopped working and the replacement policy is terrible

It's been working for about 3 months - at least I think so. I've been checking the app (Android) regularly and it showed the percentage of battery left and that it was in the was in sleep mode. So I assumed it was ok. But I went to Mydlink on the web to check some dlink camera settings and I saw that this device is not connected to Wi-Fi. I never received any notification about this. So I tried to reconnect it but to no avail. I called tech support. The agent was very thorough and together we…

Works with straight through cable Sensor cable

I was initially disappointed that this DCH-S160 successor uses a sensor probe that only detects water in one spot. I've had slow leaks that didn't travel very far, but they did significant damage over time and this type of sensor is unlikely to detect this type of leak unless you get lucky and the sensor lands where there is a small, repetitive leak puddle . However, I've had great luck using Honeywell's continuous tether sensor (it detects water touching any part of the cable) as an extension…
