💧 Dane-Elec 32GB Aqua Capless USB 2.0 Pen Drive - Model DA-ZMP-32G-CA-A1-R Review

I own about 20 different USB sticks from different manufacturers and the Dane Elec brand is recognized by more models than any other brand. I also like the slide closure - you can't lose the "cap" and it's better designed than the old slide cap that Dane Elec used before.

They are sold at a great price and I have had 100% success downloading, saving and uploading to each of my computers , Apple Mac, Windows with Parallels on my Mac or a regular Windows PC.

Having previously bought an 8GB Dane-Elec and it was a really good USB I decided to buy this flash drive for college classes. Not a very good idea. I like that it's not expensive. However, the read/write speed is questionable. I used it mainly for my Android development course and it turned out to be slow when reading information. My programs kept crashing for no reason. **UPDATE** My old Dane-Elec 8MB stick proved to be very durable (see my original review below), but I've had bad experiences with it my new 32 MB drive. The top piece that I attached the key ring to broke off after just a year of use. Revain graciously replaced that drive with an identical one, which met the same fate just three months later. I've been an IT professional for 24 years and I have to say that Dane Electronics flash drives are the most reliable and durable. Over the years I've had many failed products other than DE. I still have a 2007 DE 8GB stick and it works great, even after unplugging it from the USB port many times while it's still active. These things are indestructible! I highly recommend them!

I had it for 3 weeks and transferred the necessary data from the old one that my dog gnawed onto it. The previous one lasted over 2 years. This fell apart after 3 weeks! I pulled it out of my Mac as usual, but only the tip came out and not the drive itself, exposing the drive to dust and the elements. I bought this drive because of my experience with other Dane-Elec flash drives. I put about 5 gigabytes of data on it, but when I tried to read the files, they were corrupted. I was able to remove some, but others were unreadable and had strange characters in their filenames. I connected the drive to my computer and did the usual error correction and repair. I don't recommend it. I'm afraid Dain Elek has two hits on it now. According to several other reviewers, it looks like they have joined the ranks of greedy manufacturers who prefer to maximize their profits by buying cheap, inferior storage devices from China, thereby ruining their reputation. I bought one of these a few months ago and was very happy with the product, I've used it daily to copy and erase gigabytes of data at a time. Very durable and kept it on my keychain. When my daughter came to town she liked it a lot so I gave it to her and decided to buy another one to replace it.
