The auto dimming glass cracked when opening the package. Item sent for exchange. The 2nd broke too. Sent it back and asked for a refund. Wouldn't recommend it.

I started taking my old lens apart to replace one of the two dead batteries. When looking for replacement batteries I found this whole assembly. It fitted my port cargo helmet almost perfectly, just needed a little cutting with a knife to remove the wire coming out of the lens. The price is about the same as these batteries.

The first one came with a broken solar panel. The second one didn't look broken, in fact it fit perfectly in my Harbor Freight hood. A quick test with my welder showed it was still broken. It got dark enough that it didn't flash immediately, but when I adjusted the dimmer knob mid-weld, the dark portion just swept across my field of view without actually obscuring the entire lens. As if the electric charge wasn't evenly distributed across the lens. I decided to return it and just buy a new hood

Ideal replacement for a factory fitted original that had a premature head failure. For the price extremely hard to beat with more features than my original and it seems like a quality finish. I would say it was almost perfect. The original was a bit thicker, which also made it a bit heavier and bulkier. To get my original support frame to hold it in place I used a Forstner bit (3/8" I think) to create two screw post sockets that they should go into (which is an improvement on his design anyway)
