Ryobi Carver for Carving Knife

I ordered this for my friend. He loves to! I have one and it's easy on my fingers, my arthritis is terrible in my hands. Reduce the time so you have more time to work on details

Love it. works great out of the box and .

I like it very much. Works great out of the box, and after a quick sharpening it worked even better. A bit noisy when you try to bite off a big chunk but cut it into small pieces.

Cons
  • I don't know anymore

The collet failed after a few hours

I bought this a few months ago but never got around to using it. I finally started the project I bought this for. Everything was fine, but after a few hours the collet failed. It simply turns the entire shaft without weakening it. I didn't have the highest expectations, but they definitely exceeded them.

Pros
  • Pleasant to use
Cons
  • Hard to tell

Not the most accurate results when carving jaws

Great tool for the job. I am designing a pine derby car and needed a child safe tool. This is the safest tool I could find, but it doesn't work as smoothly as I would like. Carving is not easy and the results are not as good as expected. It might work better on another species of tree, but for now that's all I have.

Pros
  • Holding my fists
Cons
  • Not bad

Pretty neat tool - carving knives and forks

I used this to carve wood spirit yesterday but found I still had to break out my trusty utility knife and pocket knife for finer detail. I think a battery powered device would be easier to use but this one works well. All motorized carving tools are a bit more expensive than we would like. This is no exception. At this point I can only say that it works well. It's just limited in what it can do when it comes to intricate carvings on certain types of wood.

So far so good for my purposes

Just got this so it's really a first impression. Well packed. The instructions are in Japanese but there isn't much to explain. The blades are fixed with a simple screw collet. The three blades supplied appear to be of good quality. They are sharp and cut well. I also bought a set of Flexcut blades which are lighter and better suited to my purposes. Flexcut blades fit the tool perfectly without any modifications. The tool is quite small and light which makes it easy to use. I was impressed with

Pros
  • Consistent test results
Cons
  • Could have chosen a newer model
