I have a 435i coupe. I bought it without reading the reviews first as it was used in a YouTube video on an F30 335i with the same engine. After reading the reviews I realized it might be too small and probably should be padded with paper before using it. This method worked. I didn't want to accidentally damage the oil filter housing by turning the key out of the box. I'm not sure if this is perfect, but it worked. I recommend if you have a newer BMW with an N55 engine do the same.

Closing does not work in this case. The frame looks high quality, but that's the only positive thing I can say. There is no retainer to hold the ratchet in place. The bushing is VERY loose on the filter cap and while it worked to remove the filter cap from a 2014 BMW X3 35i w N55 engine it caused visible damage and I did not reinstall the filter until fully torqued. I bought this because I work with Volvo cars every day. This tool's adaptation to their filters is pretty good; a bit loose as there is little room to maneuver. After the filter is fully tightened, you must tap the wrench or ratchet in the other direction with enough force to remove this tool from it. UPDATE: I really regret not reading the other reviews.
