Works great but you need Displayport connectors

I upgraded my WD15 dock and needed to order a DVI connector for the Displayport to get my two monitors working. Super cool, 180W extra power. I called and spoke to Dell and they told me that newer 180w laptops and dual monitors would/work better. Not sure if they just sold me a WD19 instead of the 180w WD15 option, but whatever, it works and I have two monitors again - a requirement!

Gives strength a new meaning "brick "

This thing is crazy. The whole concept of a dock is that it should clean up the clutter on your workstation. These... these... things are absolutely gigantic and heavy. When I picked up the package, I realized that something was wrong with the weight. A big, thick, long power cord to a big, thick, bulky power adapter, and then a big, thick, long cord to a docking station. The docking station is a huge, heavy black box with its own big, thick cable that runs to your laptop. Two rocks and three…

Works great with my Latitude 5400

Bought to use my Dell Latitude 5400. My laptop does NOT have an additional Thunderbolt port so I chose this dock. Connected two Samsung 27" 1080p displays via DisplayPort. Provides enough power to charge my laptop and the displays look great. Able to use my laptop as a third display if needed.

Ethernet unreliable

I've had this device for 2 months. Used almost every day. The Ethernet connection is disconnected every day. I checked the CAT5 ethernet cable, only 2 meters long, there shouldn't be any communication problems. Changed router port, no difference. Maybe it's the heating. Only unplug the device after using it for more than 1/2 hour. To fix the communication problem, I have to unplug the USB-TC cable, turn off the hub, and turn it back on. Very annoying! By the way, I use the hub with my Inspiron…

Good solution for 2 external monitors

I've been using a Dell WD19 dock at work for a few weeks and it's a very good dock. I have WD15 at home and it works fine too, but I prefer WD19. My work laptop is a very well loaded Latitude 5500. I've been using 3 external monitors, usually with a desktop PC, for about 10 years. I've found that the WD19 can "technically" drive 3 monitors, but one display has poor resolution (so bad it's unusable). I researched this issue and found that it wasn't WD19's fault, but rather a limitation of USB-C…

Your Dock may be new or refurbished

Let me first say that I am happy with my purchase. But before buying, I asked the seller about the condition of the goods - after all, Dell isn't used to selling new docks for $230 to resellers, who in turn resell them for $163. Therefore, it becomes difficult to make profits. In my reply email I was told that the devices were brand new. Well, the shrink wrap on the device wasn't exactly what you'd expect on a new device, and when I tracked the Dell service tag on their website, I found that it

Valid for 10 months then I will buy more

First received in June 2020, had to be replaced in April 2021. Overall excellent, works so far, but here are the issues and caveats.1. The first had one of the rear USB ports mounted upside down. Unexpectingly, I inserted the cable "the wrong way around" the first time, and the thin inner plastic parts of the connector were too bent to use. I ignored this port as I have a USB hub and could do without a port.2. After a few months it stopped "waking up" when the Dell went to sleep. Workaround: Do

3 monitor limit - docking stations

Context: I switched from a StarTech USB3 docking station to this Dell USB-C docking station so I'll do some comparisons between them. I have 4 monitors on my desk + an open laptop with a total of 5 screens. I am an IT system administrator. Bottom line: If you're using 1-2 monitors and a few USB devices, this is probably a good solution. Nobody in my office uses <3 monitors and most commonly 4. I use 5. Due to monitor limitations I will no longer be ordering from this particular docking…

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • too stupid

Buying a Thunderbolt USB-C laptop hub is like a Goldilocks story: docks/hubs are too big, too expensive, and you end up finding the right balance. For me it's pretty easy. I need support for a non-4K monitor, multiple USB ports (including one for a wireless thumb drive/mouse with no interference), and Ethernet. For this configuration, $250+ dedicated Thunderbolt docks are overkill. I don't think it's worth the extra $80-$100 for 4K/60Hz support and connecting TB accessories. USB 3.0 doesn't…
