A must have espresso machine

We received our espresso machine as a wedding present over a couple of years ago. It's been pressurized lately and the espresso wasn't pouring out as usual, causing a huge mess when trying to remove the handle holding the espresso. We wiped the area down with a damp paper towel, thinking the floor was stuck, but to no avail. After reading the manual, I realized we needed a descaling solution. I guess I'm not very good at any of these things so I figured we could wash it with water. nope It was…

Same one I bought direct from Nespresso - just have to do the math myself

used. And if you've followed my reviews over the years, that's a lot of Nespresso machines. And yes, we use a lot of Nespresso capsules in our house and maintenance of the machines comes with that. I don't risk cleaning my Nespresso machines with something that isn't made specifically for them. Is that so. I believe different machines use different ratios of solution to water so follow the directions and be sure to refer to the descaling instructions when measuring this amount. For the sake of…

Long overdue item for small appliance parts and accessories

I've been a very very bad barista, I disassemble and reassemble all the parts on my DeLonghi to thoroughly clean them, but I've probably taken about 1500 shots since then , which I received My car and I didn't do the most important service at all, the descaling! I think I could use the excuse that I thought I was upgrading a long time ago, my motor was working really hard, the shots were slow and the coffee tasted awful, I thought this beast was already dead but it looks like all he needs is…

New look (and formula?) but same product code DeLonghi

DeLonghi confused many of its customers when it appeared to be discontinuing its old descaling agent in favor of a new formulation, "EcoDecalk". However, I have verified that the product code listed in my user guide is correct for this new version. Also, it's the only descaler offered on the DeLonghi website. By the way, DeLonghi's list price is $14.99 at the time of this post, and they offer free shipping on orders over $25. In other words, you can save $$ if you order 2+ bottles directly from

Easy to use. That works fine. instructions below.

Instructions are on the bottle, simply lift the main label - see pictures or read below. Not at all :) Descaling instructions: You should descale your coffee machine about every 200 coffees (or about every six months if you use it every day). Only use the descaler supplied. Follow these steps to remove scale: 1. Fill the tank with 34 ounces (1 liter) of water; 2. Pour the contents of the supplied bottle of descaler (8.4 fl oz/250 ml) into the tank. For subsequent descaling processes, a…

An expensive alternative to citric acid

De'Longhi EcoDeCalk Natural Descaler helped to descale my De'Longhi EC330 manual espresso machine but did not solve the problem of water dripping out of the Cappuccinatore steam nozzle that De'Longs caused by scaling. But it might be unfair to expect the machine to be completely descaled after a single use because I haven't descaled the machine in months (I haven't made much espresso in that time either); My machine's manual recommends descaling every 2 months or 200 espressos. EcoDeCalc's…
