Good quality product, I rate this purchase excellent.

When buying a receiver, you need to understand that this device is not for playing stereo music. Stereo they, even in this price category, do not know how to cook. On stereo playback, the 4700th surrendered to my integrated circuit without a fight. Denon plays somewhat aloof. It is not airy enough, falls short in terms of microdynamics. The scene is limited to AC. The depth of the scene is poorly developed. However, the tools in the space allotted to them are positioned clearly, although the…

Bug firmware and hot work

The name of this AVR is misleading. This is not a 125W x 9 AVR. It is 125W with 2 controlled channels. Do not be fooled. It is very warm. Give it at least 3 inches to breathe. The firmware is a little buggy at the moment. When I plug in my cable box, the AVR refuses to wake up to my Apple TV. My previous AVR didn't have this problem. Odessa says my rear speakers are out of phase. My previous AVR didn't have this problem. Sometimes I hear distorted dialogue from the world around me. Rather than…

I love this AVR! - Home Audio

I spent a lot of time and research before I took the risk and bought the AVR-4700H. Seriously, the sound quality is terrible. I like the virtual DTS/Atmos setting at 7.2 as well as the 4K skip. The other day my wife and I watched Frozen 2 and my wife, who never talks about electronics, was blown away. As much as I would like to have ceiling speakers in the theater room, I just can't because it would be too difficult to wire if the "ceiling" in the basement is our heated floor with a bundle of…

HDMI is bad, possibly a bad block.

I bought this to replace my AVR-X4000 due to the improved video performance. I switched to a 4k projector, Blu-ray and AppleTV and the old AVR could only support 1080i. Setup was easy as almost everything looks identical to the X4000. The audio output after calibration with their excellent Audissey system is incredible. The big disappointment was that the high-speed video didn't run smoothly and sometimes failed completely (snow). I spent a day tweaking the input levels and turning the…

Cons
  • Almost OK

Many HDMI input options. Good sound.

AVR - The X4700H is a great receiver with great sound and lots of HDMI input options. The main reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that I couldn't get my Sony Blu-ray player (older model) to display anything other than the splash screen (i.e. no video output including system device menu after splash screen). when connected to one of the HDMI inputs on the rear panel. Curiously, however, the Sony worked flawlessly when plugged into the AUX HDMI input on the front. I spent an hour on the phone…

worth your money.

Well my 13th old Onkyo Tx-SR805 still works fine but I wanted to try some of the newer audio codecs like DTS X, Dolby Atmos and Auro as I just got the new Sony XBR -TV 65X950H 4K bought together with Klipsch RP-8000F and additional speakers. I did a little research and finally settled on the Denon AVRX4700H. After initially setting it up as a 7.1 system with the Audssey configuration, I found I could hear things more clearly and even hear different sounds in familiar material. I was interested…

Works great for a day

I want this receiver rate 4 or 5 stars but it started losing functionality after only 1 day. I am familiar with Denon AVRX receivers so setup was easy and fairly straightforward for me. I hooked it up to a PC (with an RTX 2070 GPU) for PC gaming and an XBOX Series S for console gaming, and also wanted to use it for streaming (like Prime Video). After the initial setup everything seemed to work fine. The video was connected to my 55 inch Samsung 8K TV (Q900). The first sign of a problem was the…

Don't Buy This - Home Theater

I don't normally write reviews but this time I will. I would not recommend buying this receiver. First, the receiver suddenly renamed all my input connections to an HDMI connection to my Blu-ray player model. The Heos app couldn't have been more difficult to use, and it doesn't work very well at all. When I use the Heos app to stream music from my computer to the Denon 150 speaker, the audio cuts out every 4-6 seconds making it impossible to hear. When using my iPad to stream music over the…
