Sensor placement photo

Here is the location of the sensors on a 2003 Rav4 when looking at the engine from the front of the car. Under the heat shield, the exhaust pipes cross, which is confusing.

A defective sensor arrived

The sensor is defective and wobbles in place. I've tried to get a replacement but they won't refund me until they return this one: I need a new one first so I can take this one down and send it back as I threw away my old one. So I have to shell out another $130, rush out with a replacement, and then send it back in time to get a refund. Aggravating!

CHRISFIX IS WRONG FOR CODE p1135 (NOT p1155)

If like me you watched Chrisfix's video on how to fix the p1155 code in rav4 from 2001 to 2005 you saw this part 234-9023 in his video DON' BUY seen. Buy part 234-9028, this is the correct sensor for bank 2 sensor 1 (this is the upper passenger side in the US) shown in Mr. Fix's video. I don't know what Crisfix did to make this plug fit, but the plugs are completely different and not interchangeable, I believe he used editing magic. But the candles are not the same, ask how I know. This part…

This is a correct part for a 2003 RAV4

This is a correct replacement part for the LEFT (driver side) upstream O2 (oxygen) sensor OE# 8946742010 on the engine exhaust manifold. He installed a check engine light. The heater in the original failed - Open when it should have read about 1.2 ohms. Heater wires - 2 black, blue and white - for motor feedback. This part is easy to replace, especially on the Rav4, as it sits right on the front of the engine within easy reach. The exchange takes about 15 minutes. I used a Lisle 12100 oxygen…

Works / Easy / Significant savings $

Excellent: Easy to install (especially with TEKTON 4929 3/8" actuator with 7/8" oxygen sensor connection) Took 10 minutes max. a few weeks ago the "Check Engine" light came on - since the engine started and ran fine I decided to try and do the repair myself. $22) to get DTC "P1135”. A few minutes of googling led me to this Denso (two YouTubers linked to this page so it was easy and cheap to get parts. The scanner can hardly be described as "professional" but it worked flawlessly and was easy to

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • Useless features

This is for a 2001 Rav4 code 1135 but refers to the driver side sensor not the passenger side sensor. The passenger side goes through a hole in the heat shield and the driver's side is on the side of the heat shield. I avoid confusing the terms "right" and "left" except by saying that "driver's side" is the American version, not the UK. Also, plugs are different, so if your plug doesn't fit, you're putting it in the wrong hole. I found a few people who rewired their sensor (like me) because I…

Works best on 2001 RAV4 in terms of air to fuel ratio

Works great on 2001 Toyota Rav4. Sensor 1 position 1 is suitable (in the USA it is the top sensor on the driver's side). I first read the trouble codes with a Scangauge II, bought the appropriate oxygen sensor, replaced it, cleared the code and have had no problems since. previously the Rav would stumble very badly under acceleration and not much power. A week later I took out the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor and cleaned it with MAF sensor cleaner because the scanner gave me 2 new codes for lean…

Right Side Precision Fit Great Value

My 2002 Toyota Rav 4 finally gave out codes P1135 and P1155 after 214,000 miles. These are the bank 1 and bank 2 sensors. I would say it was a good run with original parts. When I went to my local parts store they charged $180 for an unnamed brand and I asked if it would last half as long as the original part. Well, thank goodness for that part about Revain. Not only is it an OEM part, it's also $80 cheaper. I immediately saved $160. When it came time to install them I was a little hesitant as…
