Matte black was exactly what we wanted. Unfortunately, the actual locking mechanism does not work on this product. It doesn't slide out far enough to latch on the other side of the door, causing it to "snap". It's very frustrating that we just had to throw it away because it was poorly made.

No, I'm clumsy, built a whole house, installed all the doors vertically and works well, but this trash is built into the office desk with no regard for the field. They have a striker plate and a short deadbolt that can't reach the panel and latch the door, and the stupid reason is that the large head screws provided for the panel prevent the door from closing tight and the latch catching the panel.

The edges were bent and the paint was peeling off. I thought it was minor and could be tweaked. When pressed, the paint tore more. Have asked for a replacement as it should work if in good condition. Update: The second one arrived well and the pieces were poorly put together. The rotating hardware appeared to be an oily bronze finish rather than a matte black and didn't really match.
