A 3/8" bit was used to poke a few holes in relatively thin metal. The blade dulled quickly. Overall feels however, the set feels solid and will likely last a long time if used in non-metal or wood applications. In my opinion the best value for money drill set for metal drilling. I've had better kits but they also set me back a couple 20 more. I needed a decent kit because I had to drill out some pretty strong clamped bolts holding the seats that had failed in my 20 year old truck. I had a set of Dewalt titanium drill bits and broke about 5 drill bits in 10 minutes trying to drill through screws. I bought cobalt because I saw positive reviews and noticed at a home store that they only show the metal. I

Let me start by saying I have a lot of experience with fabrication, milling, machining and other useful things around the house. They are excellent for quickly drilling holes in most materials. They come out of the box very sharp. I think if you drill aluminum they will be perfect, although they can be aggressive enough to make you grab.
