DW1803 and DW1805 offer spring-loaded collar that automatically engages drive pins to prevent hole saws from locking to the mandrel. I cut through a 1/16" thick sheet of steel and the drill bit sheared off on first use. I don't know if I got a badly shaped drill bit or something. , but more likely disappointing quality.
What about the drill spindle? Damn not much. It works, the blades are sharp, my people who use them have had no problems. I bought the DeWalt brand name as otherwise synonymous with quality, so far it has held up its reputation on this drill spindle.
