EXPENSIVE, LONGER, but so far it's working well.

I initially bought a cheaper all metal adapter, not DeWalt. Then I thought, hey, come on. It wouldn't hurt to have two in case the first one breaks. The DeWalt is slightly longer, bulkier, and has a plastic head instead of metal. I hope it holds up over time. But I was a bit puzzled when I saw the "MAX" hammer, which was partly made of plastic. It didn't inspire confidence. But let's see.

Pros
  • Shaft Adapter
Cons
  • Can't remember

Beautiful, no noticeable loss of performance, high quality

I got this to use some old bits on a previous drill I had. I switched to an SDS Max Puncher. It looks and feels premium and I've had no issues with it the few times I've used it. There doesn't appear to be any loss of ftlb-per-hit power as I used a couple of SDS Plus bits to secure the animal escape ramp in our pool and it pierced through the concrete like soft butter. I recommend this to everyone. . I am very satisfied with the performance and quality of this adapter.

Pros
  • Converts rotary hammer cartridges for more versatility.
Cons
  • Big and bulky

people, the picture is wrong. This thing is HUGE, a serious piece of steel. It's made in Germany and comes in a cool yellow DeWalt case. I've only used it once to insert a 36 x 3/4" SDS Plus bit, but it worked great and the weight and build of the adapter left no doubt as to its durability. When buying locally, SDS Plus bits seem cheaper and being more affordable than SDS Max bits however if I know I will be using a lot of bits I will order the correct SDS Max bit and wait for it but it's nice…

Pros
  • Allows you to insert a 1/2" conventional drill chuck into your hammer drill.
Cons
  • No power.
