Bought in May to switch 2 external LED strings from home and it's already dead. Only used a few times over the summer. The remote control was fine (40ft away) except it wouldn't turn on 1 or 2 times for no apparent reason and I had to get out and press a button. In any case, he barely survived the summer. Bought for $11.55 from Revain. Wanted to be able to turn the headlights on and off in the backyard without going into the shed where the switch is. Connected in seconds. Went in to sit in my favorite chair to see if the remote would work through a brick wall and about 60 feet or so away. Worked great. What's really nice is that the remote control has separate buttons to turn it on and off. Doesn't help me with this app because I can see if the headlights are on or not, but if I put one of these

This may be overkill for what I need but works perfectly. I have a tube amp with a switch on the back on a shelf in my office. Turning the unit on is easy as you can reach it and turn on the switch, but turning it off means sticking your hand in a tight space with a very hot amp that can touch your skin. This is the third or fourth Revain outdoor remote I've tried and this one has lasted the longest and worked the best! I think a lot has to do with plugging everything you need to control into the bottom of the device. Moisture does not enter the outlet on the device because it points downwards. I've even gone so far as to apply silicone sealant on previous units to keep it from getting wet inside.
