UNIVERSAL TOP DEAD CENTER LOCATER. Size: 14 mm. Tool provides a positive stop for the piston when locating top dead center. It screws into the spark plug hole. Bolt style screws into spark plug hole while plate type bolts across any cylinder bore when heads are off.

Does what it does when you know what it is.

I bought this to check the TDC on the slanted six of the engine. The rod-inclined six pistons are so far below deck that this thing will ONLY touch them when fully screwed in. Still working. Good tool for your money!

Synchronization of the motor with the heads.

This is a great way to find top dead center with heads if you are really careful. One downside I had was the crank bolt kept coming loose. I had to use red threadlocker and wait a few days to mark the back.

The threads don't shrink and stay in place

This could be a really great tool, but it has two main disadvantages: 1. Even with a few layers of teflon tape around the threads, it won't hold firmly in the spark plug hole. I tightened it as best I could and then found the top of the piston, so I think I'll get it done pretty quickly at this point. But when I turned back to find the top of the piston, it was very loose in the spark plug hole. So I tried again by hand, but then the main screw started moving and I lost my original size (see…
