SUPER SHARP - Kitchen and Dining

I have used these knives for many years. They always come out very spicy! They are easy to keep clean, retain their edge and are easy to sharpen when needed.

Pros
  • Well built
Cons
  • Nothing

favorite fillet knife.

Holds the blade well, cleans sea fish perfectly. Plus for the price, if it falls overboard you don't want to kill the guy who threw it overboard, maybe just hit him a few times.

Pros
  • Like everything before
Cons
  • unreliable

really good knife, fell on my leg and that's it.

Really good knife, fell on my leg and cut like butter, I wasn't even in pain. At least I know it's a good quality knife I think haha. I had to get 8 stitches.

Pros
  • New to my collection
Cons
  • Upgradeable

Large knife on fillet knife

This knife is very sharp and the handle is comfortable. Although it's described as a filleting knife, we use it for anything but that; It's great for slicing cheese, veggies, and pretty much anything you chop on a cutting board.

Pros
  • is understandable even for the old
Cons
  • appearance

Not worth a refund

A mysterious group tried to pass it off as new. The photo shows a worn handle, a scratched and bent blade. I've tried to get a refund but a mysterious party is tying me to the delivery of a knife that should never have been shipped. Buyer Warning!

Pros
  • Expensive but decent
Cons
  • Slightly torn

Made in Japan and cheap handle

Unlike most Dexter Russel knives, this one is made in Japan. The description of the item is unclear and does not mention that it is a Dexter Russell "Basics" knife. Not Made in the USA. It has a very thin and cheap plastic handle. It doesn't have the SofGrip handle that most Dexter-Russell fillet knives are known for. There's a reason this knife only costs $11.26.

Pros
  • Few competitors
Cons
  • Quality

A knife for the best in cutlery and knife accessories

I fish a lot and have tried over two dozen different fillet knives. Dexter is the best. I use this knife for salmon and walleye crappie, there are a lot of those. it's fun at work. This knife is just the right sharpness: just enough to open the fish easily and not too sharp to cut the skin when skinning. It has the correct conical curved position for the skin. what does that mean) it's just the right length for a precise back cut and skin removal and doesn't feel too long to challenge your…

DO NOT BUY: Cutlery & Knife Accessories

Want to practice sharpening? And go back to the old whetstone every time you use it? Do you like to cook pieces of meat longer than necessary just because you like it? Or do you mind leaving "a little extra" on the muscle membrane of your cuts just because "if so, then this knife is for you." It's a flat, blunt knife. So disappointing. Even after sharpening, it doesn't take long to become dull again. It doesn't bend well for a fillet knife. I've been using this knife for two years, deer…

Great Value

This is a new line of knives for Dexter Russell called: Basics. Not quite what I initially expected. I'm used to much of the steel that Dexter Russell uses for their blades. However, there is not much steel in this knife. At first I was very sad because I had never held a Dexter Russell knife that felt so light before. I was actually VERY sad (almost as sad as when I found out Trump was elected) to discover that the pen didn't have Dexter Russell's trademark; and that's when I noticed the…
