This is the right tool at a good price

Bought these tools because drilling ceramic is very tough. But it's on my effect like oils. I have used on pottery, china and brick; worked great for everyone. The only problem I noticed was that the wax center seemed to be pushing it out from behind. Haven't drilled with it much yet so can't comment on durability.

Pros
  • Versatile for porcelain, tile, ceramic, granite, marble, masonry, stone...
Cons
  • Expensive

Easy to cut, good for drill bits

Uses these for shower door hinge screw holes. After wearing out two very expensive diamond tipped hole saws on just three holes, this bit quickly made the rest of the holes I had drilled in porcelain stoneware. I have found that a small dimple made with a masonry bit helps keep the diamond bit centered. Saved me a lot of time and nerves.

Pros
  • Uses high quality diamonds and heat resistant vacuum solder for quick and smooth drilling
Cons
  • Something else

Did the job! Hex Shank Bits

Bought these to drill holes in a stone pillar to put house addresses. Slowly they did their job, drilling each hole in about 10 minutes. They worked best when, after the first or second hole, I found that frequently removing the drill bit to remove the stone dust that was created greatly increased their efficiency. You really care more about grinding a hole than drilling it.

Pros
  • Diamond hole drill bits contain wax inside which absorbs and dissipates heat to drill faster and cooler
Cons
  • Non automatic
