great knife: bread knife

I have a knife with a wooden handle. A chef working for a catering company used it, so I bought it for myself. The only thing that doesn't work is that it has a wooden handle and you can't clean the wood in the dishwasher. This knife is of the same quality but with a hard material for the handle, it can be washed in the dishwasher. Buy it. We also have a great gift for adult children.

Pros
  • the best in its niche
Cons
  • so-so

Cock knife is the best. This is my standard Christmas/Birthday/Happy Day gift for my friends and family. Note that the handle is hard plastic, but the lettering on the knife blade doesn't look cheap or mundane like other budget knives. I've bought a few of the competitors for $20 and the quality isn't up there. This is great value.

Pros
  • Acceptable
Cons
  • Poor set

This is my "GoTo " knife

I'm not one to praise beautifully, but I love, love, love this knife. I sometimes struggle with the strength in my hands but I find this knife to be very easy to use for almost anything. Particularly useful for slicing bread. I don't know if it's an offset handle or sharp blades, I just know it's a pleasure to use. I reach for this knife more than any other in my drawer.

Pros
  • Large selection
Cons
  • There are more interesting options.

Buy it. thanks me later

I LOVE THIS KNIFE. THIS IS MY FAVORITE KNIFE FOR A VARIETY OF TASKS. Comfortable to hold, light, stays sharp, easy to clean. A must have for the veterinary chef/chef who needs a good utility knife for slicing sandwiches, onions, cucumbers, tomatoes etc. Can be sharpened quickly and easily. 100% recommend this knife. I've been cooking for 29 years and I have MANY, MANY knives. This knife is my number one choice at work for everyday needs in the middle of a rush. It's not a high quality forged…

Pros
  • Easy installation
Cons
  • Embarrassing

I hope Bourdain gets a cut

Read The Secrets of the Kitchen (great book!) and Anthony Bourdain wrote that this was just the knife I needed so I ordered it. I have a drawer full of useless knives and was thinking of a "good set" (aka expensive). I'm just a mom who wants to cook, so I took advantage of Bourdain's bargain offer. I am so glad that I read this passage and ordered this knife! It amazes me how easily this knife cuts fruit and vegetables. And the price (I paid $23 here) is just as amazing. I love the pen too…

Pros
  • Pretty
Cons
  • Some flaws

A decent knife for its job, but not a universal miracle knife.

I think how many people I've heard about it from Bourdain's book. Well, there are good ones, not so good ones, and some bad ones. Here: I had a bout of buyer regret almost immediately after ordering, I canceled it and then ended up ordering again. The reason for my hesitation was the length of the blade which is the short side at 7 inches. I have similar knives in the 10-12 inch range. The 9 inch version of this knife is hard to come by, so I finally pulled the trigger. on this 7" version…

Pros
  • Brilliantly done
Cons
  • disappears
