Same old fancy remote control.

All right. It replaces a set I got nine years ago when I became a Direct TV subscriber. Exactly the same block as before and I've never been a huge fan of the design. The serial number is the same except for one digit. Soft buttons are not as responsive. Sometimes I have to press them several times. Sometimes they don't respond at all. Batteries are fully charged. Choose a remote that works and doesn't need help

So I bought it in December 2010 and I'm still using it! I bought it to replace one of those expensive "professional" remotes that couldn't cut it. Here's a case where you don't get what you pay for. I could and would have bought 10 of these when they started breaking instead of paying $250 or what I paid for another one. Thing is, it's got everything you need, great reception and responsive buttons. Those expensive remote controls that your installer has to force you to buy are complete fakesโ€ฆ

I bought this remote control to replace my father's old remote control. His old remote was an RF version, but since he didn't need an RF anyway, I just switched the receiver to infrared in the settings menu. For the price of this remote, it's a lot considering you can also control your TV and two other devices. I suspect that this unit was mistakenly labeled RF in previous listings, which is actually not the case. However, I think a lot of people don't really need RF. If your receiver isn'tโ€ฆ
