It seems like a luxury until you try to find a reliable keeper for your expensive diamonds.

When it comes to tool sharpening, diamond stones are the new standard. This stand fits most sizes of DMT stones and will hold them securely even when you rinse them with water. Get one that works with all sizes for a few bucks more, but I had to trade it in when the 8 inch brick didn't fit. The slightly more expensive DUO base fits both stone designs.

very happy with it

I bought two holders for my stones, one with a magnet and one without. Since the stones are different grits on each side, there is a lot of switching when sharpening. The normal base is fine, but you have to detach the stone to flip it over to use the other side. The magnet base adapter is much simpler and all you have to do is take the stone off the magnet, flip it over and continue sharpening. I held the base on the bench with a vise which makes it very easy.

Profitable investment!

OVERVIEW: Purchased to use with an 8" Duo Sharp and some 6" Dia Sharp (through) stones. It was also noted that the magnetic base also holds the slide folds (see image). CONSTRUCTION: The magnet base is simply a plastic base with a thin (1/16 inch thick) magnet on top. OTHER CONSIDERATIONS: Be careful not to scratch the magnet material when sharpening as it is very soft. : DMT makes the best diamond sharpening stones. This is a very thoughtful accessory that makes using large stones much easier…
