Description of DonJoy Lateral J Patella Knee Support Brace: Drytex, Left Leg, Small - Effective Hinge for Optimal Relief

Intended for those suffering from lateral patellofemoral knee pain; Ideal for day-to-day activities and while playing sports; both in and out of the water. Choose the knee brace to best suit your needs, between Drytex and neoprene; and with or without aluminum hinges for added stability. Drytex allows for improved airflow and is preferred by individuals in warm weather climates and those with neoprene allergies or irritations. Neoprene is a thicker, wetsuit-like material that provides a warmer option. Universal design allows the DonJoy Lateral J Patella Knee Brace to be used by both men and women. Fit tip-take the measurement of your thigh and calf 6 inch above and below your kneecap using a flexible type tape measure. Use the diameter you measure here.

Unsupportive and cumbersome brace

According to my experience, this brace did not provide the necessary support for my knee during team sports. Despite the bulky design, it constantly slipped out of place and caused irritation. The only positive aspect was its durability.

Pros
  • Provides excellent lateral patella support for those suffering from patellofemoral pain syndrome, patella alignment and instability, and chondromalacia
Cons
  • May feel bulky and uncomfortable to some individuals with smaller legs or those who prefer a less restrictive fit

This is the brace my physical therapist recommended - my knee.

This is the brace my physical therapist recommended - my kneecap likes to wobble. It keeps my kneecap in place pretty well. It's a bit tricky (as my right foot is so swollen I'm on the end of the range for that size). It's a bit bulky but worth it for the relief when you're in pain. I am having some issues with my left braces but I think it might just be my foot as my patient forced me to try on one of their (same) braces and I had the same twinge on the back of my left legs.

Pros
  • Health & Home
Cons
  • Weight

Great brace but you may want to protect the other leg.

About a year ago I dislocated my kneecap and partially tore my meniscus. I got this brace because after I started running again about 5 months ago I had another knee dislocation 4 months later and I think it was another but not as severe subluxation. With this orthosis, I was able to feel more secure when walking and partially forgot about the renewed subluxation of the patella. This provides excellent support and comfort. The only negative thing about this bandage is the fact that it has a…
