Dorman products are generally good enough

This valve cover fits like an OEM and performs like an OEM, unfortunately it's also made like an OEM. If you have to buy this valve cover for a CHECK ENGINE troubleshooter, you also need an intake manifold. This product is as good as the OEM, but the OEM usually fails after 50,000 miles or less. Comes with high quality gasket and screws. While I cannot recommend this part over OEM, I would still recommend it to all other aftermarket brands. For me it's OEM or Dorman. Delivery was quick

Another Dorman Fail

I bought this for my 2013 Cruze 1.4. I couldn't get a GM OEM because of the strike. I should have waited The first problem was that a screw was missing. At this point I have already dismantled my car. I used one of my original screws. Despite perfect cleaning and tightening with a torque wrench at the right moment, it is leaking. I also used some sealant on the timing gear cover hinges as per the service manual. Dorman products are said to be redesigned to be better than factory products, but…

Works but you can use better washers

Valve cover works as it should, fits perfectly on my 14 year old Chevy Cruze Eco, gasket included. The only criticism is the rubber rings around the screws. 5 or 6 rubber rings/washers tore and broke under pressure when tightening bolts to manufacturer's specifications. They squeezed together and then slid up the top of the bolt. Your local dealership's gasket kit has a different ring/washer. Those included in the kit will not withstand the necessary pressure. It's been a week since the repair…

This product can really damage your car!

As a seasoned engineer and mechanic I am very knowledgeable about the process and procedures for installing (my) 2014 Chev Sonic LT with a new wobbly/PVC cover and replacing the latter at 30k Miles. Although the plastic extrusion looks pretty solid when folded. However, the fasteners are of poor quality and two bolts were actually damaged, resulting in the removal of the cylinder block. In addition to the damage, a screw in the crankcase broke. I had to drill out a "new" screw and install a…

Perfect Fit / Solved Error Code PO171

I decided to buy this part instead of a genuine GM part. My reason is simple. I have 2 cars with GM 1.4 turbo engine. This part has already been replaced once under warranty on both cars. I had to replace it again on one of my cars after about 100,000 miles. I expect this diaphragm will continue to fail about every 40,000 to 50,000 miles. My plan is to replace both of my machines with this Dorman part so next time this diaphragm fails I can just replace the diaphragm without changing the cap. I

Solution to Known Issue for 1st Generation Chevy Cruze

1st generation Chevy Cruze vehicles (my daughter has a 2014 1.4T) are notorious for these PCV membrane issues that crack and lots of SES/CEL -Causes codes to be resolved by replacing the camshaft valve cover and in some cases requiring replacement of the intake manifold as well. Dorman has corrected some of these design flaws and added a lifetime warranty on both of these components. Since their improvements don't necessarily fix design flaws, I decided to install their component as the Delco…
