No complaints, direct 'straight' replacement. If your old Civic has worn bushings, wobbly steering, or a vibrating front end, this is a great fix. It takes a few hours at most.
Pros
High marks for support and durability from testers
Looks like a good joystick. Replacement was easy on the 2002 Honda Civic. At this price point, it's impossible to imagine swapping out all the bushings when both the left and right full bushings can be replaced for around $100.
Good fit and finish as strong as OEM. Plug and play on my 03" Civic. I noticed a different hub design compared to the OEM, maybe a little softer, but the orig had 250k and they were starting to go bad. I also replaced the end rods, tie rod ends and ball joints. The Ride is much more responsive and quieter.
While I'm no mechanic, I now understand the importance of comparing new parts to old (besides a simple visual inspection). The arm that is meant to attach to the hub assembly/ball joint just didn't feel long enough. Then I compared old and new. Dorman was almost 2 inches smaller! Maybe it was a simple confusion, but still very uncomfortable. Lesson learned.
straight, my application was a 2002 Honda Civic EX. The "flexible bushings" were worn out and instead of replacing the bushing, which involves squeezing the old bushings out of the forearm, I decided to replace the whole thing. Got rid of the front suspension heavy knocking in corners. The culprit was a large bush, completely torn and broken.
I installed it on my 2001 Civic DX. Very happy with it so far considering my dealer asked about $800 to replace both levers and I could get them at Revain for about $45 each and do it myself . . The DIY difficulty is around 6-7. You need the right tools, such as B. a 3/8 inch demolition hammer with an extension tube. Some information that I had a hard time finding I will share here. The torque for the two 19mm bolts that attach the control arm to the frame is 61 ft-lbs. Ball Joint Torque: Theβ¦
UPDATE 11/09/16: ------------ After 9200 miles on them I went to Sears to have luggage racks made and the mechanic said, that my sockets crack. They wanted $178 for LCA + $250 for labor. I said never mind and got another pair of Dorman LCAs which I installed last weekend. After taking them off I checked for cracks and only saw one of the bushings with a small crack, nothing really. Anyway, now I have new racks, new LCA and after alignment everything is fine. Dorman and Revain took good care ofβ¦
