Dorman 55164 Isolator Bolt for Ford Engine Intake Manifold in Select Models Review

I was warned that this part would not fit a 2001 Ford Taurus. With two broken intake manifold isolation bolts and after hours of looking at the picture and the product description, I took the plunge and ordered. Aside from being a different color, black/green instead of all black, it fits perfectly! And allowed me to close a previously unknown air or vacuum leak.

If you have the infamous bad code issues on both banks of your 4.2 liter Ford truck and your oxygen sensors are correctly switching to real time scanner readings then this is what you need. Make sure to grab new manifold gaskets to replace while you're there. Dorman products have always worked well for me and chances are they will work for you too! I just wish they had included some docs showing correct torque for less experienced people but I think google works too lol.

Surprisingly, you can't find them at local auto parts stores. At least where I live they don't have them and they won't even order them. Luckily Revane had her. We used them on the upper intake manifold on my son's 2001 Ford Taurus with a DOHC V6 when he dropped one of the originals in the engine bay (not the engine itself) and we couldn't find it. We screwed in seven screws by hand, but the last one didn't go into the threaded hole. We already unscrewed one of the screws by hand and just screwed it into the last hole. We attempted to insert the last screw into the now vacated hole and the threads would not turn even with more force on the screw. We inspected the initial threads on the bolt and the burrs didn't look worn or bent. We ended up having to return one of the old screws that we had removed and installed with no problem. After…
