Dorman 600-911 Shift Motor for Ford and Lincoln Models with Transfer Case Review

This "transfer case motor" was a perfect match for my 2008 Ford F-150. The stacker will now toggle between 2H, 4H and 4L. The new engine came with good installation instructions.

Fits 05 F150 XLT. Tested the 4x4 and it moved the T hull as it should. Pushing out 2 pins was easy. Remove the red needlepoint pin. Small coachman to open the lock and push out the pins. Insert the new plug, replace the red latch and plug it in. I recommend again.

Great replacement for my 2005 Ford F150. Turns on easily, no problems. I add that you need to remove the 2 factory wires and connect to the new connector. So you have to be a little electrically and mechanically inclined to install it, but it works great.

Seems to work well. I had to drill/mod a factory motor mount to fit my 05 F-150. A few minutes of work with a drill mounted rasp and a little sanding by hand and lengthening the two mounting holes is what I did to bolt it down.

Transfer case works great, 4x4 worked straight away. The only problem was that one of the screw holes on the left side of the piece wasn't drilled properly. Just a flimsy bracket and can easily be pierced but the case is secured well with 3 main screws so I just gave up.

I bought a slightly broken motor. A nut was missing, but it's not scary. With $40 off the original price I think I can handle the missing nut. I used one from an old engine. After installation it worked great! Progress in getting this truck to where it should have been. Excellent purchase!

My 4WD no longer works on my 2006 F-150. After searching the internet for the cause, I found that this engine was the cause. I found this at Revain for a good price. I have used Dorman products before and they are durable and long lasting. I installed them in no time and the 4WD was up and running again. All you have to do is remove the 2 pins from the old engine wiring harness and install them in the new one. one. No big deal and there are videos online showing you how to do it.

No Instructions. quite simple structure. had to go online to find out about two additional cables you need to uninstall and reinstall by just toggling. The connector had an issue with two pins installed, the plastic pins would not snap into place. had to file down the red keeper to make a cone to get past the safety pins. The support bracket is light steel, the original was heavy aluminum, the holes did not match the original, the supplied rust-prone bracket had to be used. Seems to be working…

Ordered this for a 2006 F150 4X4 and it installed easily but then got frustrating when the engine wouldn't shift at all. A few days later I tried again and the truck got stuck in 4X4 Low and wouldn't shift down so I had to limp home. As a result, the car was towed to the Ford service. The mechanic said I installed the engine correctly. He said that after the market change, these engines don't work well with Ford trucks. I ended up buying a Ford engine and it works great.
