Almost exact replacement

This cap came with a separate gasket and gasket kit that worked great, it was great. It doesn't have the factory timing tab that my old cap had, so I just used a gasket and installed the gasket on my old cap after repainting.

Pros
  • nice little thing
Cons
  • easy repairability

used for Mercruiser 140 3.0

Fits my 1986 Mercruiser 140 engine. I had to drill 2 holes and buy nuts and bolts to attach the oil pan to this cap. Just put it on the engine with an oil pan and you will see where to drill. Much cheaper than the $300 mercury coating. Be sure to buy a good RTV for the area hitting the oil pan.

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Guard

Very poor fit where it matches the oil pan

Didn't end up using it as it didn't fit well on the oil pan, found a used OEM, it fit much better and has 2 bolt holes with welded nuts that attach to the oil pan and there are also small holes that the rubber pad needs to run a small rubber pick through to hold it in place. I think you could use it as a last resort, but you're better off getting creative with your padding.

Pros
  • Best in niche
Cons
  • I will add later
