MUST READ!: Home page

Looks like the picture. The pressure is already set. Use the RTV even if the gasket and lid are of good quality. This prevents future leaks due to bad block pairing. Tighten the oil pan bolts first, then the cover bolts. After tightening the cover bolts, loosen and tighten the oil pan bolts. 18 pounds for cover. 9 lbs for long oil pan bolts.

Pros
  • Beautiful packaging
Cons
  • Negative is available

Garbage, don't waste your time and money!

The cover was bad! Couldn't align it properly with the alignment tool from 3 different attempts. The crankshaft was seized after tightening the bolts. Couldn't go back as I was away for 30 days. The original cleaned cap replaces the gasket and gasket and the alignment tool installation works great. Dorman's quality has gone down lately, very disappointing!

Not a good experience.

I bought two of these for two different jobs. The first one I used in the suburbs in 2005. After I installed the transmission, the oil seal leaked worse than before. So of course I installed the second one and the same. So the gear had to come out three times before I could get it to stay dry. I ended up using a plain auto parts rear main oil seal without the entire cover.

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • So so

Leak, had to do the job twice! The lid was cut open under the seal. I had to remove the oil seal and put in a new one with a gasket between the cover and the oil seal. It is recommended to purchase a lid alignment tool and install the lid first and then the gasket to cover all possibilities. You cannot properly align the cover with the gasket installed. I would like to do more research before purchasing this cap with the seal already installed.

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
  • Minor issues

Really good quality, no junk

This is a great rear main gasket kit for my 2009 GMC Yukon. Reviews of this item on Revain say it is bad or doesn't fit properly or leaks worse than before the gasket was installed. The fact is, it's a great part when installed properly by a mechanic who knows what they're doing. Its installation is no different than any other rear main seal. This kit is actually stock at the dealer and that is why I bought this aftermarket. When replacing the rear main seal on a Yukon this entire kit is…

Don't buy this! It's leaking!

The same brand they sell in advance. Auto parts are half the price, so I decided to give it a try. Out of the box the gasket and seal appear to be of good quality and the panel has a nice finish. However, after about 10 miles it started to leak, worse than the seal I pulled off the truck. I followed the instructions, also with the centering tool. Keep in mind that I have 4 wheel drive, so getting the seal in the first place is very labor intensive. When I finally got it out of the truck, the…
