Cheap Easy Repair: Engine Parts

Easy install with the right key. Significantly cheaper than replacing an oil pan. Stop worrying about stripping threads on an aluminum oil pan.

Pros
  • Automotive
Cons
  • Don't remember

It looks like it would work fine

I couldn't screw this into the oil pan on my 2000 Honda Civic, but in theory it should work fine if I drilled a bigger hole. I had a spare oil pan lying around so I just swapped it out.

Pros
  • Engines and parts
Cons
  • Not fancy

This is my new filler plug.

I used this to add a usable filler plug to an old Bronco II rear diff. Drilled a hole in the detachable case, used some RTV and sealed it. Sand off part of the thread to make it finer.

Pros
  • Replacement Parts
Cons
  • Interchangeable

Oil Tite from Dorman: Oil Drain Plugs

I ordered this and received the exact same parts as shown on the Dorman website. This made it very easy to fix the cut hole for the oil drain plug and has a 1/8" plug in the center for draining the oil on future oil changes. The repair was very easy. You will need a 24mm wrench or socket to install it and a /16 wrench to tighten the connector.

Pros
  • Oil Drain Plugs
Cons
  • Compatibility

Save on a two week trip and about $300 on repairs.

After removing the factory oil plug at Miss Piggy on a 900 mile ride I figured I'd have to tow the bike to the shop or worse home so ordered this, arrived two days later and rode it no more hassle and no more spills as it is made of steel and has a built in steel drain plug. I used blue Loctite for a semi permanent repair.

Pros

Cons
  • Problems
