Got this to replace a cheap Chinese unit I installed a few years ago. The build quality here is much better, closer to the factory. Installing power windows is always "fun". It has a lot of power and is relatively quiet.

Price fits. Installing a new front quarter window motor in a 1999 Tahoe is no easy task. The YouTube video is a MUST SEE if you haven't already. Lots of steps, lots of cables to get back into the correct straps etc but 2 boys and 2 hours later we did it and saved at least a few hundred bucks by doing it ourselves.

He's doing his job. It is much easier to replace this entire assembly and not just the motor. I have done both. The motor is riveted to the chain system and because of the price difference it's just the easier way. If it's running slow, check the wheel track on the inside of the door. My track widened causing the wheel to lock up and the glass to slowly go up. I think that's what caused my last motor to burn out. After I fixed that, everything worked great.

The item comes as described. The instructions were perfect, although I linked to a YouTube video just for illustration. The only difference I've found is that you can't easily loosen the screws holding the assembly together. The assembly was factory riveted to the car so I had to drill it out. The window motor is held on with rivets from the factory. This replacement window regulator also comes with rivets to fit the car exactly as it came from the factory. However, the rivets they supply require a special rivet gun to install. In addition, they are too big and you still have to drill holes. I decided to use the nuts and bolts I have. This in and of itself isn't a complete deal breaker, but if they supply gear, why can't they supply gear that anyone with basic tools can use? The…

I received and installed this power window around May 10, 2012. On May 15th, 2013 it was fully working without warning. Worked great for a year and then stopped working with the window down. I removed the engine and am contacting Dorman today (May 16, 2013).
