If you hurry you can install this in just seconds without damaging it but not worth it. The fit and finish is terrible. The edges are sharp and uneven. Rough edges may not fit the tailgate exactly, but even that doesn't matter as the part isn't perfectly flat.

If I were to open a museum of poorly made GM parts, this could be one of the top three worst generals ever made. At least in my life. Every truck of this generation that I see is missing a handle. I replaced it with a GM part and it took about 9 months. Anyway, at this price you can buy 3 times more for the same price.

Molding does what it should. Definitely a cheap solution compared to OEM. Not the best either, depending on the application. I swapped mine in the tailgate so I wasn't concerned with looks, I was more concerned with functionality. First, it's very similar to the OEM, although with rougher edges. Installed with no problems. Looks nice. Good value for money. It's a cheap part, the lugs have burrs, burrs, sharp edges etc which probably doesn't help people complaining about the lugs breaking when fat fingers push the part into place. Use some sandpaper or a fine file and round off any sharp edges/defects around the burrs that could snag and cause more resistance during installation. Fits my 2005 Sierra. Install it on a warm day. The snaps are rough around the edges, so take some fine sandpaper and sand them smooth. I waited until it was warm outside and put it on the hood in the sun to really warm it up, then slowly installed it. Slide it in place, don't knock it. It has a sticky rubber band on each side, just like your old one. It's not the perfect fit. I think the elastic used to attach it is too thick, but it doesn't look loose or sloppy. I have read many reviews that the top tabs are brittle and break during installation. So when I got mine, I was extra careful. Remember you are installing this with the tailgate handle installed and intact. Not someone who reads instructions, I figured you had to use the long top tabs first, then insert the bottom shorter tabs last.
